We talked to Mrs. Dodge’s 3rd grade class today via Google Video Chat. We were able to ask them all sorts of questions about 3rd grade. In addition, we practiced our listening and speaking standards.
A student brought in baby chicks and turkeys. It was fun to pet them and listen to this student tell us all about them. Earlier in the day, we compared and contrasted the two life cycles of butterflies and chickens.
Our high school intern taught us about symmetry this morning. She did an excellent job including math (geometry) and science (life cycles) into her lesson. We had a blast making them.
Building shapes using an app called Geoboard (parents this is a free app). We are learning to classify shapes by number of sides, number of angles, and number of vertices.
We are starting to learn about 2 dimensional shapes. Ask your son/daughter what attributes we use to classify shapes. We created our shape robots and then we wrote stories about them.
